Disneyworld has its share of rides where the guest ends up wet, either partially or thoroughly. Kali river rapids belongs in the thoroughly wet, drenched beyond belief, shoes squishing for the next hour catagory. But it’s a lot of fun.
Kali River Rapids begins as a nice, tranquil float through a rain forest. There are twelve people per circular raft. As the ride progresses, you see that huge chunks of the rain forest have been gutted by loggers. And to top it all off, your raft is headed for a pile of burning logs. Part of the fun of Kali River Rapids is the surprising twists and turns, so I won’t say any more.
You’ll either get wet or soaked, depending on where you sit in the raft. And the wet seat changes every ride, so you really can’t avoid getting wet. My family went to Disneyworld during the off season, when it wasn’t crowded, so we ended up just staying in our raft for about five rides before getting off. A great reason for visiting Disneyworld during the off season! I’ve heard Kali River Rapids can get extremely crowded, so visit first thing in the morning if you’re there during busy times of the year. Also, if you have anything that absolutely can’t get wet, you might want to invest in a locker rental. They have a space in the middle that’s covered with plastic, but your things still get damp. We took off our shoes and put them in the middle compartment, but I’m not sure Disney will let you do that anymore. If you can keep your shoes dry, your feet will love you for it. Besides, have you ever noticed that shoes don’t dry out in Florida? Strange, but true.
