The following was written by my 13 year old son.
An easy to spot mirrored pyramid, Universe of energy is a 45 minute-long show/ride to give you a chance to give your feet a rest and cool off. Note the two acres of solar panels on top of universe of energy. Altogether, they create 15% of the power it takes to energize this attraction. That’s enough to power six houses!
The show begins with Ellen, who is watching “Jeopardy”. One of the contestants is Ellen’s annoying roommate, Judy. Ellen tries to keep up, but fails at the game miserably, espesially in the energy category. Ellen’s neighbor, Bill Nye, the Science Guy, comes in and is appalled at Ellen’s ignorance of science.
Shortly, Ellen falls asleep. While she sleeps, she has a nightmare. She is on the nightmare version of Jeoperdy! The contestants are herself, Judy, and Albert Einstein. In this nightmare version, (remember, this is Ellen’s nightmare) all the questions are about energy. Einstein ponders, Ellen gets a negative score, and Judy rakes up points. Ellen freezes the nightmare and asks Bill for help.
Now, the seats you are sitting on break up and you are transported like a tram to follow Ellen and Bill on their discoveries of energy. Watch out for anamatronic dinosaurs. Then you travel through time to discover the many different sources of energy.
When you and Ellen come back to the game, Ellen ends up beating Judy, who is not at all happy about how much Ellen had learned during commercial break. To win, she must name the one energy source that will never be depleted. Unless you are the equivelent of Einstein, (actually, you don’t have to be THAT smart) or, for you younger visitors, actually pay attention in science class, (hint, hint) you will get it wrong.
I liked this ride because it teaches you a lot about energy and it’s sources. I can almost guarantee that you will learn at least one thing that you didn’t know before. If you didn’t learn anything, you probably have a PhD. Another reason I liked this ride is it gives you a chance to rest your feet for a while. Be sure to catch this attraction during the hot part of the day, since you will be inside for 45 minutes.
