It’s a Small World

“It’s a world of laughter, a world of tears…” It’s the one song guaranteed to stick in your mind for hours, if not days, after experiencing It’s a Small World. Small World was built for the World Fair in New York in 1964-1965. Despite it’s age and lack of high tech thrills, It’s a Small World remains a favorite of Disneyworld guests young and old.

As you enter It’s a Small World, you’ll board a boat that moves at about the pace of a slug. Which is good, in a way, because it gives you plenty of time to look around you. As you gaze around, you’ll see hundreds of dolls, dressed in costumes from their native country. And they all know the theme song. Funny how that happens. Anyway, you’ll drift by several different rooms full of dolls singing and dancing to the same catchy song.

At this point you may be wondering why you would want to creep by lots of dolls singing a song that you’ll have stuck in your head for the rest of the day. Well, I’ll tell you. At least, I’ll tell you why I choose to ride It’s a Small World. Each region of the world is represented, and I love seeing the way Disney has chosen to depict each country. The dolls are adorable, and their costumes and antics always entertain and amuse me. Watch for the animals: they’re usually doing fun things.

It’s a Small World was built to celebrate diversity and promote global togetherness. I think it has definately succeeded in it’s aim. And it’s a fun ride. What more can you ask for?
