Mad Tea Party

The Mad Tea Party is one of the most well known rides in the Magic Kingdom. It’s a simple ride, really… a carnival fun ride. The magic lies in the theming that Disney puts with the ride.

The Mad Tea Party was inspired by the Disney animated film, “Alice In Wonderland”. If you remember the film (those of us with DVD players and small children have no problem with this point), Alice at one point attends a tea party with the Mad Hatter and the March Hare. A thoroughly nonsensical tea party. The ride takes that movie scene one step further.

The Mad Tea Party ride has guests sitting in giant tea cups. The cups each have a wheel in the center, which makes the individual cups spin. You can spin your tea cup as much or as little as you would like. Here’s a hint: If you happen to be riding with anyone in the 9 to 20 age range, expect a lot of spinning. If you don’t like to spin, I would suggest inhabiting a different tea cup :)

Most kids love this ride, although excessive spinning might frighten very young children. Most adults get a kick out of it, too. The ride is slow loading, so either plan to ride early in the day, or plan to wait in line for a bit.
