Welcome to the Magical Place we call Walt Disney World

Body Wars

Since Star Tours has always been a favorite of mine, I went into Body Wars with high hopes. Maybe my hopes were too high. Body Wars uses the same simulation technology as Star Tours, but it was much rougher and I didn’t find the story as engaging. Oh, well…you can’t have everything, right?

Just so no one gets the wrong idea, I did like Body Wars. The story goes like this: scientists have invented miniaturization technology and are launching a probe to investigate the effects of a splinter on the inside of the body. Of course, you are invited to go along (only at Disney are guests invited along on scientific missions!) While looking at the splinter (which is a really cool effect, by the way), a fellow scientist gets attacked by a white blood cell and your (probe? craft?) sets out on a rescue mission that takes it all the way through the human body.

To its credit, Body Wars is an educational thrill ride. I actually learned a great deal. The effects were cool. I don’t know…maybe growing up with Star Tours has made me prejudiced!
