When Disney announced Test Track, it seemed that the opening would never come. Many people anticipated the thrill of riding the fastest and most innovative ride at Disneyworld. The opening was full of snags, as the ride kept breaking down. Finally…the day came. Test Track was open! No, I wasn’t there that day. I did look forward to riding it, though. We stood in line (okay, we used fast pass) and finally got on the ride. Our car screeched up the hill. It began the handling pass…and then broke down. After about 15 minutes, a cast member came and collected everyone and walked them out of the building. And that was interesting…to see “backstage” at a Disney attraction. But that’s not what this is about.
Later in the day, we attempted to board again. We had priority passes this time, because of the earlier problem (Disney does take care of their guests). Once again, we set off. Our car screeched up the hill…we went through the suspension tests…we went through skids and stops…we endured hot, cold, and corrosive mist (and counted our blessings that we weren’t in one of those rooms when our car stopped before)…we went through switchbacks…we found out what it was like to be a crash test dummy…and finally we zoomed around corners and banked curves at 65 miles per hour.
At the end of the ride…..I was disappointed. Not that it wasn’t fun, or exhilarating, or informative, but I just expected more. Test Track is fun, and definately worth your time. But don’t expect the thrill ride of the century, because you’re not going to get it. My kids loved it. I loved it. I’d go on it again. But if you’re looking for intense thrills…go for Tower of Terror or Space Mountain.
