The month of May is upon us, and with it the thought of spending the day in a swimsuit playing in the water. Where I live, the weather just turned warm, and actually I was stupid and went outside all day with shorts and no sunscreen. I have one of the worst sunburns of my life. Ahh, summer. Gotta love it.
Anyway, as I sat here at my computer feeling the pain in my legs, my thoughts turned to the thrill and fun of water parks. And of all the water parks I’ve visited, Blizzard Beach is my favorite. So on that note, I’m going to spend the next few days talking about all the different things to do at Blizzard Beach.
Last time I visited Blizzard Beach, I had two children with me. Consequently, I was looking more for family type fun water rides, instead of thrill a minute water rides. I’ve been on several family raft rides, and I can honestly say that Teamboat Springs was my favorite.
Teamboat Springs begins at the top of Mount Gushmore. The track stretches for 1,200 feet, making it the world’s longest family raft ride. The ride has it’s moments of thrills, but all in all it’s tame enough for even small children to ride. The rafts hold three to six people, so be aware that you may have to split up, or combine with another group.
I attended Blizzard Beach during the off season, so lines weren’t very long. During the summer months, though, wait times can be daunting. Be aware that you may be standing in line for a while. If you can, avoid Blizzard Beach on the weekend, when Florida natives flock to the water parks.
And one more note….wear sunscreen.
