What can I say about Jungle Cruise? It remains one of my favorite rides, despite the jerky anamatronics and the horribly punny boat operators. Anyone who has been on Jungle Cruise (and that’s probably most of you, considering there’s a Jungle Cruise both at Disneyworld and at Disneyland) knows that if you’re looking for realistic, thrilling sights and masterful storytelling…you’re looking in entirely the wrong place.
Jungle Cruise is a whole lot of fun, if you’ll relax and take it for what it’s worth. You board your boat, where the skipper begins cracking terrible jokes as soon as you step on board. You set off to explore four dangerous rivers: The Amazon, the Nile, the Congo, and the Mekong. Along your cruise you’ll encounter many sights…bathing elephants, angry hippos, dining lions…even a shrunken head salesman. And we can’t forget the pinnacle of your cruising experience: A breathtaking view of…the back side of water. Cool.
The anamatronics in Jungle Cruise are a bit primitive. There’s no way anyone would actually believe they’re real. And your tour guide will pepper you with groan worthy puns the entire ride. And that’s the fun of Jungle Cruise. It’s not realistic Mission Space. It’s Jungle Cruise. And under the low tech feel it’s an experience that can’t be missed.
