Welcome to the Magical Place we call Walt Disney World

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin

I can describe The Magic Carpets of Aladdin in three words: Aladdin themed Dumbo. Instead of flying elephants, we have flying carpets. Instead of Timothy the mouse on a hot air balloon, we have a magic lamp. Aladdin did add spitting camels, though…that was a nice touch.

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin is a hub and spoke ride, just like Dumbo the Elephant. Each carpet holds four people. The two in the front seat get to work the altitude controls, while the two in the back seat tip your carpet back and forth. Your carpet flies around and around a magic lamp for about 80 seconds, while a camel sits in the center and spits water at you. Don’t worry about it, though…he spits only at mid-level, so you can avoid him if you want.

The theming of the ride is charming, and Disney has added some nice touches. Your children will probably be clamoring to ride, and it’s somewhat fun for adults, too. It’s not one you’ll want to ride again and again, but you’ll probably want to ride it once. Be aware that lines move slowly, merely because of the nature of the ride. Visit at off times during the day, such as first thing in the morning or during the evening parade.
