Tarzan Rocks!0

I had no idea what was in store for me as I walked into the Theatre in the Wild and sat down. I thought maybe a short version of a stage show…kind of like Beauty and the Beast. Wrong! I soon found out that this show really does Rock!

Tarzan Rocks! doesn’t tell the story of Tarzan. Rather, it takes the concept of the movie and pushes it one step further to create a high energy, creative, show that both kids and adults will love. (more…)

Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends0

Of all the shows in Animal Kingdom, Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends was my least favorite. Not that is isn’t cute, or informative, but I saw it as a cute little piece of fluff. Kind of like cotton candy. It’s yummy, but not much substance.

Anyway, Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends starts out with a conversation between Pocahontas and Grandmother Willow. They are trying to figure out a way to save the forest and its animals from destruction. According to a Native American legend, (more…)

The Boneyard0

Just as you cross under Oldengate Bridge (that would be the giant brachiosaurus skeleton), you’ll reach a sign…ummm…a giant shoulder blade…announcing The Boneyard. As you enter The Boneyard, look to your right, just behind the jeep. There’s a set of fossilized bones set into the wall called the Xylobone (wasn’t that punny?) Knock on a rib bone to play a note.

The Boneyard also has (more…)

Height Requirements0

Anyone with small children eventually wonders about height restrictions. So here it is: A comprehensive list of all of the parks. Boring, but necessary. (more…)

Kali River Rapids0

Disneyworld has its share of rides where the guest ends up wet, either partially or thoroughly. Kali river rapids belongs in the thoroughly wet, drenched beyond belief, shoes squishing for the next hour catagory. But it’s a lot of fun.

Kali River Rapids begins as a nice, tranquil float through a rain forest. There are twelve people per circular raft. As the ride progresses, you see that huge chunks of the rain forest have been gutted by loggers. And to top it all off, your raft is headed for a pile of burning logs. Part of the fun of Kali River Rapids is the surprising twists and turns, so I won’t say any more.

You’ll either get wet or soaked, depending on where you sit in the raft. (more…)

Are things really what they seem?0

Look carefully at the buildings in Walt Disney World, and you’ll notice something interesting: not everything is how it seems at first glance. Disneyworld uses an architectural design trick called forced perspective, which essentially fools our brains into seeing what Walt wants us to see. Here’s some examples: (more…)
