Look carefully at the buildings in Walt Disney World, and you’ll notice something interesting: not everything is how it seems at first glance. Disneyworld uses an architectural design trick called forced perspective, which essentially fools our brains into seeing what Walt wants us to see. Here’s some examples: (more…)

Walking through the front gates of the Magic Kingdom is so much like turning back the hands of time it’s almost scary. Not that I actually lived during the turn of the century (well, not that century anyway), but Main Street U.S.A. is what a small rural town should have looked like in 1900 America. I’m sure none of them did, but this is Disney and I’m willing to put reality aside, smell the cookies, and get caught up in the magic. (more…)
